When designing your kitchen make sure that sockets are accessible....
Or have Isolation switches above the worktops...
Then just in case you need to isolate the electricity to just one of your electrical appliances, for example a washer breakdown, you can easily and effectively, without having to turn all the electricity off in the rest of your kitchen....
So that means you can carry on cooking, dishwashing watching tv, without any inconvenience to you in your time, whilst the offending appliance is being mended...
