Question from a Customer about Wall Panelling's Oak/oak veneer panelling...
Sent: Tue 06/09/2011 12:47To: Wall Panelling ExpertsSubject: Re: re bookcase and panelling estimate
Dear Carol,
Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly! Yes, the details are approximately correct.
What thickness is the veneer part of the oak? Do you do solid wood and if so, what would the cost be?
Kind regards,
Shona Smith
Hi Shona yes the 18 mm oak/oak veneer is made up as follows 1. framework of 12mm oak faced mdf 2. Then a 6mm mdf oak/oak veneer back 3. Then solid oak beading Because of how they are made they don't warp or crack unlike solid oak and you finsihbthe in exactly the same way as solid oak eg varnish and then waxing if preferred For solid oak please just double the price (Solid timbers are very expensive at the moment) Hope that helps If there is anything I can do to help, if you have anything on your mind please just ask Thanks so much, Shona From Your Senior Wall Panelling Advisor Carol Direct from The Uk's Top Wall Panelling Experts For Everything You Will Ever Need To Know For Your Own Ideal Wall Panelling Design.. Top Tip For Creating a Fantastic Look and Feel on our Oak/Oak Veneer Panelling
Top Tip for creating a fantastic finish on our oak/oak veneer wall panelling.
1. Varnish either with a clear varnish if you want to keep the oak/oak veneer the colour as you have received or if you are looking to darken then apply your preferred choice.. BE CAREFUL HERE remember to darken in stages You can always deepen but if you stain too dark straight away it is very, very difficult to relighten
2. and then apply with finishing wax/beeswax (clear) small areas for a really stunning look and feel...

Can Wood Panelling help to Insulate?
We have received this email today from a customer ...Please find our answer below
From: Gwyn Cox [mailto:gwyn@sundaedesign.co.uk]Sent: Thu 18/08/2011 12:37To: Wall Panelling ExpertsSubject: re Query
Hello,
We are very interested in having one wall in our bedroom panelled, but have a query first:
The wall in question is an outer facing wall of an old stone cottage. This stone wall is plastered but gets very cold in winter. We are hoping a layer of wood panelling will help to warm the wall by acting as a sort of insulating layer. Can you tell me in your experience does panelling help to keep the cold out?
We are considering the read and bead panelling option.
Many thanks for your time,
Gwyn Cox
Hi Gwyn
Thank you very much for getting in touch with us today at Wall Panelling We do appreciate it
To help 'warm'' your wall with panelling we would recommend
1. batoning off the wall
2. putting the read and bead on to the batons
3. Then put kingspan insulation behind the panelling
Hope that helps
I have attached a picture of how batoning works too.
If there is anything I can do to help, if you have anything on your mind please just give us a call . Freephone 0800 169 6855
Thanks so much, Gwyn

How to Work Out Best Height of Panelling for your Room
If you want to panel your room about waist/dado height we recommend to divide the height of the room by 3
So for example a 2.5m high room divided by 3 is 833mm
Therefore a good indicator for the heihgt of panelling that would look good around your room would be 833mm high!
Happy measuring!

7 Killer Advantages for Choosing Tongue & Groove Wall Panelling Instead of Tiling..
What Are the 7 Killer Advantages for Choosing either the Tongue & Groove Wall Panelling or Read & bead Wall Panelling For Bathrooms Instead of Tiles?
1. With the Tongue & Groove Wall or Read & Bead Panelling you Only Pay for what you need
When Tiling You Require Up To 20% Extra to allow for Cuts So You End Up Paying for 20%more than what you actually need.. which costs you more money
2. The Adhesive to fit the tongue and groove wall panelling or read and bead for fixing is alot cheaper than tile adhesive. Saving you more money
3.Tiling takes twice as much time to fit than the tongue and groove or read and bead wall panelling. So installation costs of the tongue and groove wall panelling are alot cheaper
4. Don't Need A Skilled Person To Fit the tongue and groove or read and bead wall panelling so again Less Cost to fit
5. Once you Have tiles you are stuck with the colour of the tiles. You can change the colour of your tongue and groove or read and bead wall panelling as trends change quickly and easily which makes sure that your bathroom stays fresh and current all of the time
6. The tongue and groove or read and bead wall panelling gives a very warm look and feel
7 The tongue and groove or read and bead wall apenlling can be installed directly on to brick, drylinings, artexed walls or tiles . Saving you even more time and money
